The best time for trekking around the Mount Kailash is from April to
June and September to mid-October. During these months, the weather is
sunny and view to the mountains is clear, and there will not be so many
snow and rain.

What is the Itinerary of the Mount Kailash Kora?
For a classic Lhasa to Mount Kailash tour, you need to spend 15 days to
complete the entire tour. from Lhasa, Shigatse, Everest Base Camp to
Lake Manasarovar and Mt. Kailash, this tour includes almost all the
highlights of Tibet.
For travelers, you will spend 3 days to get
acclimatized to the high altitude, before you go to the mountain
regions. Via Everest Base Camp and Manasarovar Lake, you will reach
Darchen where the Kailash Kora will get started. The entire trekking
around Mount Kailash will last 3 days. Along the Kora route, a few
Tibetan-run camps will offer accomodations and basic food, such as
instant noodle, hot water, sweet tea, etc.
What to Pack for Mount Kailash Trekking Tour?
To make sure you have the right gear for this Kailash trekking tour, you can follow our checklist to prepare your luggage.
1.The first thing you should consider is clothes. In Tibet, especially
the mountain regions, it could be very cold even in summer, and
temperature varies widely from day to night. So you need some warm coats
like down jacket.
2.A pair of durable and road-holding hiking boots
is necessary, since you need to trek a long distance and encounter some
rough ways.
3.A good, arctic sleeping bag is needed, as the
accommodation conditions are quite limited during the kora. If you don’t
want to bring your own sleeping bag, you can rent one from us for free
in Lhasa.
4.Trekking poles are an essential part of your equipment,
and acts well as an extra support for the rough terrain. You can rent a
pair of trekking poles from us for free in Lhasa, if you don’t want to
bring them by yourself.
5.Crampons are sometimes required since the
road can be icy and snowy. They can prevent you from slippery and makes
you trekking easier and more comfortable. To make your package lighter,
you can rent Crampons from us for free too.
6.Do not forget your sun
protection supplies. Due to the intense sunshine on the plateau, you
need to bring a pair of sunglasses and sunscreen to keep you from UV
radiation. A hat and long-sleeved clothes can also be very helpful.
Where to Stay During the Mount Kailash Kora?
During the 3-day kora around Mount Kailash, you will spend two nights
in the guesthouses or tents with large communal sleeping area and very
simple dorm beds. There won't be hot water or showering facilities, also
there is no heating in the guesthouse. But think blanket will be
available to keep you warm.
